AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player. She plays as captain and striker with the San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest level of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team alongside Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from the year 2018 to 2020. After graduating earlier from the University of California, Berkeley, where she played with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional at the time and played a major role in helping the team win the league title. Morgan was 22, at the time, was the youngest player in the national squad at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, which the team finished second. She scored the match-winning goal against Canada in the 123rd minute of the semi-final match of the 2012 London Olympics. She was second in the United States to score 20 assists and 28 goals for the year 2012, which made her the sixth-youngest and youngest prolific player in the United States to score 20 goals in one year. Morgan was later named U.S. Soccer Female Athlete Of The Year and was also a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan has also played a role in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, which saw her named to the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019.
